EVENTS FROM 2019

The German-founded initiative collaborated with local artist Space Gambus from Ipoh to create experimental electronic sounds with visual projections by Mathews Ambrose (Kindred) within our space at Hin Bus Depot. The experimental music also incorporated improvised choreography by Penang-based movers Hil Ramli, Jet Leang, and Nicky Padzil.

Penang International Food Festival returns for 16 “foodtastic” days! For the 3rd consecutive year, PIFF 2019 will take off from 13 April through to 28 April 2019, with three major events held over three weekends and 12 other smaller-scale events happening throughout the 16 days.

The World AeroPress Championship is a global coffee making competition, designed to find the world's best cup of AeroPress coffee. Each season is comprised of a series of regional and national competitions, run by independent hosts across 60 countries, which culminates with the World AeroPress Championship final.

"Satellite celebrates 11 short films by directors from all 11 Southeast Asian countries without competition. The program introduces independent films as a means to address vital sociopolitical issues like poverty, immigration, sexuality, beliefs, cultural identity, climate change, and domestic abuse.

THISNORTHAT is a designer label based in Shanghai founded by Penang-born fashion designer, Tan Li Chen, and her partner Lin Yu Bo from Shanghai.At George Town Festival 2019, THISNORTHAT will be presenting their latest collection together with HIN BUS DEPOT. It will be an immersive fashion presentation which challenges the norm standards of beauty by featuring a diverse cast of nodels (non-models) to redefine the new idea of cool and beautiful.
