What is your secret crack? Well, it depends on your interpretation of it. Could it be what drives you day-by-day? Or a your weak spot? Or even an addiction you can't seem to shake off?
Curious to find out?
Then, get into the minds of 16 artists who will get you high on their interpretation of the concept "The Secret Crack". Maybe even a glimpse of what makes them tick.
The group exhibition is presented by two design collectives; Kuala Lumpur-Penang-based The Secret Hideout (TSH) and Kota Kinabalu-based Cracko Art Group (CAG). Using wordplay inspired by their collective names, the “Secret Crack” became a driving theme rooted in the showcase itself. The exhibiting works reflect the notion of self-awareness in relations to each individual as they interpret experiences that have motivated, challenged and inspired them as artists.
In relating to the wordplay of the theme, they will be exploring how mental, emotional and physical encounters can alter one’s perspective and artistic process, similar to the effects that drugs gives us, but in a more positive way. See how this empirical perspective will be conveyed from their being to their brushes or other mediums for the masses to reflect and respond upon.
With almost 90 artworks, the exhibition will showcase a diverse mixture of work that extends across the different disciplines and mediums of art such as canvas paintings, street art, site-specific installation(s), and even live performances by invited fellow musicians who are also jumping in the bandwagon of collaborative culture among creatives, WeotMa, consisting of members of the band Koma and Weot Skam.
